Music in the gardens of Carmen de la Victoria

As I said in my last post Music weekend with friends, today I will talk about the gardens of Carmen de la Victoria. But don’t panic, this isn’t about history, I’m not the best person to do it. In this post I will talk about my experience in this wonderful and splendid place full of history, from where you can appreciate the majesty of the Alhambra and the Generalife gardens.

In this year 2019 I have been in the gardens twice, incredibly both times on a Sunday, and I keep a wonderful memory of both days. I could say that the gardens of Carmen de la Victoria chose me instead of me choosing them.

A SPRING AFTERNOON

My first time was when a good friend named Ibrahim managed with the international Turkish television channel to do a little report on me. That spring afternoon the gardens of the carmen seemed to have come out of an enchanted tale. The rays of the sun at dusk bathed the entire outer face of the Alhambra and the Generalife in reddish yellow colours. The temperature, the sound of the birds and the fountains of the Carmen’s gardens were ideal to forget the bustle of the city and submerge in a peaceful and unique sight. It was not necessary to be an expert in photography to take some almost professional level snapshots.

The initial idea of the report was to record 3 works with the classical guitar and have an interview. The afternoon was quite busy because everything was improvised and we had to go fast to take advantage of the beauty of the sunset. You know, things of the art of photography: light, shadows, nuances, etc….

To make it brief, on that afternoon we only recorded the video that I’m forwarding below playing Gaspar Sanz’s Canarios Baroque dance on the guitar. To tell you the truth, it is the most beautiful video from the cinematographic point of view I have at the moment on my YouTube channel NorahWantonMusic

AN AUTUMN NIGHT

My second time was in the act of presentation of “Proarte” Association, to which I dedicated a small space in my previous post. On that day I could enjoy a new sunset in the gardens while we did the last rehearsal for the concert.

This time the gardens were not as silent as the previous time. The sound of their fountains and birds were dwarfed by the rumour of the audience as they were arriving and photos were taken with the Alhambra and the Generalife’s landscape in the background. We were surprised to see more people than expected.

Once the concert was over and the audience had left, I was able to enjoy the magic of the gardens again, but this time at night. The sound of the drops of water falling into the fountain filled the silence of the night. And there was still the impressive image of the Alhambra, this time bathed from its base by artificial lights.

Thanks for reading and accompanying me through these wonderful gardens.
