Music weekend with friends

Last weekend was a bit special for me. On Sunday I stayed with a few friends with whom I had shared music and poetry and we spent the whole afternoon together. The main reason for meeting them was to remember the inaugural act of Asociación de Artes del Sur “PROARTE” that had taken place in the gardens of Carmen de la Victoria in Granada on 22nd September. We watched the professional recording of that night’s performance! It was great.

Why remember an event which happened less than a month ago? Because, in addition to music and poetry, we were also united by the enthusiasm and professionalism we put into the day of the inauguration of the association.

VIDEO OF THE PERFORMANCE

I stayed to watch the recording to see the result of so much work, although on a couple of occasions I went out to play with other children 😁. To be honest, the video was really cool. Despite being many artists and poets, everything was well synchronized, quick and almost perfect. The most important thing to remember was that the audience liked what we had prepared and they smiled at us and showed their affection with big rounds of applause.

We all laughed remembering what had happened in the backstage and nobody saw it. At that moment I thought I could write a bit of this experience in my blog.

The Carmen de la Victoria was the venue chosen for the event, a wonderful place full of history. It belongs to the University of Granada and I will dedicate a small space to it in another post.

I had 3 interventions during the event. In two of them I accompanied two people reciting poetry with the piano and the guitar. In my third performance, I played a havanera composed by José, it was the first time we played this score. The result was astounding… Well, we were all happy with our performance… though it can always be improved 😉. I leave the video here for you to decide it by yourselves.

PRIOR TO THE EVENT

Although we had to work hard and against the clock, it was rewarding. As you can imagine, both the piano and the guitar are usually solo instruments. This means that most of the time I have to study alone. When you work with other musicians, whether in a band or a group, it’s all different. You learn a lot from them, from their experience and the way they work together, especially since I was the youngest member of the group. Besides, there is always someone who makes a joke, brings something to eat or simply tells an anecdote. Time flies and you don’t even notice it.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

My participation came through my singing teacher Pablo and by Luis, the association’s promoter and creator. I wish to thank them in this post for letting me participate in such a beautiful evening. I also want to wish a good future to the association, and hope that the illusion and dreams get them far. Don’t forget that you can count on me at any time.

COOKING APPRENTICE DURING THE WEEKEND

All I want to say is how much fun I had on Saturday as an apprentice chef, preparing the roscos we would eat on Sunday. With a recipe in hand and with the great chef Encarni, we got down to work. In fact Encarni did it all 👩‍🍳, I just watched, learned and from time to time mixed, kneaded, prepared the roscos, …. It was a different weekend and nice to remember.

Thanks for reading and looking forward to other weekends with friends, music and food!!!!
