Called by a colour in a piano competition.

Time flies … one year ago I participated in the 4th International Music Competition in Marbella, in Category A (in the so called Youth Category “Rising Stars”, up to 10 years old).

The competition was a fantastic experience in all senses. It had funny moments such as when I was called by a colour instead of by my name in a piano competition. It was my first time. We were all asked to choose a colour and I chose purple, my favourite one. In this way the jury would not know our names, nor our ages.

The competition itself was interesting. Once we finished playing our programme, the jury told us their opinions on our performances and what to do to improve our technique and musicality. Can you imagine what it means to stand up in front of an audience and a jury and to listen to what experienced pianists have to tell you about your performance? At first I was nervous and then I got relaxed.

I was really happy, I won the first prize in my category and a scholarship to attend the Masters of Tomorrow 2019 Course, in which I am participating this year.

I thought everything was really great for me, during the performance and awards ceremony. Though, it became even more surprising when Marbella TV wanted to interview me. Marbella TV made two interviews with me and the other participant who won the second prize, but due to sound technical problems, only the second part was published.

Here we are, Carlos and I. We are now friends.
